Through her songs, we introduce the Sauerland-based artist SNAKE:in ENERGYBOOST and her unique musical vision. Her songs mark the beginning of a project that combines personal experiences with social commentary. As a severely disabled member of this society, SNAKE:in uses her music to process experiences of exclusion, a lack of voice and structural injustices. Music serves as an outlet, but also as a means of bringing to light what is often overlooked or suppressed in everyday life.
Shaped by her long-standing connection to heavy metal music, which gave her support and strength during difficult periods in her life, SNAKE:in only began writing her own lyrics and experimenting musically in recent years. Due to her spasticity in her hands, playing the bass proved to be the most suitable form of expression for her. Together with us, her long-standing friends – the ENERGYBOOST team – she developed a powerful, direct metal sound that conveys emotions in their purest form.
SNAKE:in does not see herself as a traditional frontwoman, but rather as an ambassador for people whose voices are rarely heard. Her snake mask allows her anonymity whilst also symbolising transformation, growth and shedding one’s skin. At the same time, the snake alludes to the principle of prejudgement – an image that resonates with many of her own experiences.
